Johan Östberg is an associate professor of landscape architecture with a specialization in landscape planning (appointed in 2018).

Johan holds a degree in landscape engineering (graduated in 2008), a Master of Science in Technology (graduated in 2008), a Ph.D. in landscape planning (graduated in 2013), is an ISA Certified Arborist (2018), an ISA Certified Urban Forest Professional (2020), VETCert-certified at the consulting level (2022), an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist (2022), has completed the ISA’s TRAQ (Tree Risk Assessment Qualification) course (2016 and 2020), and has been a TRAQ training instructor since 2024, as well as chair of SIS Technical Committee 577 on Tree Care. Among other things, he is the lead author of the Standard for Tree Inventories in Urban Environments 3.0, Economic Valuation of Urban Trees – The Alnarp Model 2.2, and the Standard for the Protection of Trees During Construction 2.0. Johan is a partner, chairman of the board, and vice president of the company Trädkontoret AB and works primarily with project management and tree assessment.
